Don’t miss the BTN Big 10K event in Chicago on Saturday, July 27, 2013. Dress up in your favorite school colors and compete for your Big Ten team in the 10K race or 5K run/walk. Afterward, kick-off the college football season in style with thousands of Big Ten fans at the ultimate post-race FanFest & Tailgate party!

This will be a FanFest you will never forget! Packed with mascots, cheerleaders, food, music, beer, interactive games, exciting prizes, BTN talent, former Big Ten player appearances and much more!

Start Line Positions

The BTN Big 10K will feature a Start Corral seeding process.  Participants can qualify to be placed in the Elite or one of three additional Preferred Start Corrals based on a 2011-2013 race result from one of the following distances: 5K, 8K, 10K, 10-Mile, half marathon or marathon or their expected 10K finish time as indicated during the online registration process.

For the purpose of seeding the 10K event, participants who provide documented qualifying performances will be given priority over those who provide expected finish times for Start Corral placements.  Participants who entered their expected 10K finish times during online registration will fill in remaining capacity as space allows.  The 5K event will be self seeded.  Signs denoting expected pace will be visible in the start area.

The 10K and 5K races feature a multiple wave start to ensure a positive race experience, providing all participants the same opportunity for a smooth, safe start and sufficient room to run along the course.

How to Submit Proof of Qualifying for 10K Seeded Corrals

If you would like to update or change your 10K Start Corral assignment, you can do so by submitting a qualifying time.  Your qualifying time must have been run on or after January 1, 2011.  The deadline to submit proof of a qualifying time is Thursday, June 27, 2013.

You may submit your qualifying time in one of two ways:

• By fax or electronic fax to 773.271.1121
• By e-mail to startcorrals@BTNBig10k.com

Faxed and e-faxed qualifying times must be in the form of a finisher’s certificate or printout from an online race results page.

E-mailed qualifying times may be sent as an attachment in the form of a finisher’s certificate or printout from an online race results page.  Links to race results will be accepted ONLY if the link is to your individual result.  Your name and finishing time must be the ONLY result appearing on the web page.  Links to general race result pages will NOT be accepted as proof of qualification.

As a reminder, your official time does not begin until you cross the start line. The timing system provides each participant with an accurate time from the start to finish lines.

In-Store Packet Pick-up

Participants will receive an official event shirt, participant bag and bib number with timing device at packet pick-up.

Packet Pick-Up will take place at Fleet Feet Sports – Old Town on the following days:

• Wednesday, July 24 10am-8pm
• Thursday, July 25 10am-8pm
• Friday, July 26 10am-8pm

You can have a friend or family member pick up your packet for you.  To do so, please forward your bib number confirmation email to your designated friend or family member.  In the text of your forwarded email be sure to state that you are providing your authorization for this person to pick-up your packet.  Your designated person will need to print out the forwarded e-mail to present at packet pick-up to obtain your race materials.

Please Note: There is NO RACE DAY Packet Pick-Up for the 2013 BTN Big 10K.

We will not be offering race day packet pick-up for the BTN Big 10K on Saturday, July 27.  We are offering participants the convenient option to have their packet mailed to them if they are unable to pick up their packet at Fleet Feet Sports – Old Town.

Mailing Option

Register by June 16^th and choose the “Mailing Packet” option during the registration process.  This option will allow for you to receive your packet prior to race week and your weekend travels for this event.  Already registered for the event?  Please click here to complete the Mailing Option form.  Please note, there is a $10 charge to mail your packet.

All registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. No exceptions.

Race Shirt, Participant Bag and Entrance into the FanFest

Each participant will receive a gender specific performance shirt in the Big Ten school color of their choice if registered by July 1, 2013. Gender specific performance Big Ten Fan shirt in navy blue with race logo for those registering after July 1, 2013. Those registering before July 1, 2013 have the option of choosing the navy blue Big Ten Fan shirt. Each participant will also receive a participant bag, post-race food, refreshments and entrance into the FanFest.

Awards

Overall Top Five for 10K

Awards & a cash prize are presented to the top five male & female 10K finishers overall.

• 1st Place: $1,500
• 2nd Place: $1,000
• 3rd Place: $750
• 4th Place: $500
• 5th Place: $250

Awards & Fleet Feet Sports gift certificates are presented to the top three male & female 5K finishers overall.

Age Group Awards for 10K & 5K

Awards are presented to the top 3 Male and Female: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 & over.

Super Fan Awards

Get creative! We are looking for the most spirited Big Ten fans. Dress up in your best Big Ten school themed apparel for a chance to win great prizes. Represent your school and show your colors!
